About Bynum Insurance
Bynum Insurance was founded in 1955 by Henry Bynum and C.V. Davis, with Henry becoming sole owner in 1981. From a small office on Sumter's Main Street, Bynum Insurance met the auto and homeowners insurance needs of the community's families.

Henry's sons, Clarke and Ed, joined the company in 1984 and 1991 respectively.

In 1995 we moved to our present location to better serve our customers and accommodate the growth of our staff. We now provide insurance to communities throughout South Carolina, serving the needs of thousands of individuals, families, and businesses.  

Bynum Insurance continues to grow to new heights. Construction was completed in 2007 for additional office space to allow for the continued growth in our staff as we serve Sumter and the midlands of South Carolina.

Today, just as in 1955, at Bynum Insurance we understand the importance of delivering the best coverage at the lowest possible price. As an independent insurance agency, representing numerous providers, we are able to provide the best protection and custom solutions for our clients.

Bynum Insurance has a Personal Lines Division specializing in auto and home insurance representing stable and competitve companies such as Allstate, Travelers, Auto Owners, Hartford, Central, Montgomery Insurance and others. We have evolved into a "one call to obtain multiple quotes" business. We can provide the protection for you and your family for all of your personal insurance needs including watercraft and recreational vehicles, personal umbrella liability, motorcycles and rental dwellings.

Our Commercial Lines Division can provide insurance for small and large businesses in the retail, office, service and industrial sectors. An insurance program can be written to best protect your organization. Our companies include Allstate, Travelers, Auto Owners, Hartford, Central, Montgomery, Companion Property & Casualty, Selective, Zurich Insurance and others.

Our Health and Life Division offers protection for individuals, families and businesses for life and health insurance needs. We can provide Life, Medical, Medicare Supplemental, Health Savings Accounts, Short Term Medical and Disabilty Insurance. For health insurance Our carriers include Carolina Care Plan, CIGNA, Humana, United Health Care and Principal Insurance. We are an Authorized Agent for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and BlueChoice HealthPlan. Our life companies include Auto Owners, Travelers, West Coast, AIG, US Financial, Shenandoah Life, Prudential, Lincoln, Liberty Life and others.
